Prof. Zhao Junfeng Attends the 10th Leipzig International Conference on Translation & Interpretation

       Themed “Translation 4.0: T & I in the digital age”, the 10th Leipzig International Conference on Translation & Interpretation Studies was held in Leipzig University, Germany from March 12 to 16. The conference, held by Institute of Applied Linguistics and Translatology of Leipzig University, attracted over 120 scholars from all over the world. Zhao Junfeng, Professor and Dean of SITS, was invited by Prof. Carsten Sinner, Dean of the host institute, to attend the conference. Prof. Zhao delivered a speech on Recent Development and Future Directions of Translation Education in China, and introduced the mission and plan of WITTA at the conference.

       During the conference, Prof. Zhao together with Prof. Wang Lidi from Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) talked with Prof. Christine Nord, a master of functionalism from Heidelberg University. Prof. Zhao invited her to give lectures in GDUFS in the second half of 2017, which was accepted with pleasure by Prof. Christine Nord.

       On March 15, Prof. Zhao, Prof. Wang Lidi and Prof. Peter Schmidt, former Dean of Institute of Applied Linguistics and Translatology of Leipzig University, had lunch together. They conducted in-depth discussions on international academic cooperation, international teacher certification, translator and interpreter training, the future of translation in the digital age and WITTA-related affairs, and reached agreement on preliminary cooperation.

       On the sidelines of the conference, Prof. Zhao also exchanged ideas with Prof. Fernando Prieto Ramos, a world-renowned expert in legal translation and Dean of Faculty of Translation and Interpreting Studies of University of Geneva.
